I opened my email to some good news this morning – I think. Back in June I submitted two short stories for consideration in an anthology. Because I have yet to sign a contract, I’m withholding the name of the book. But the email informed me that BOTH of my stories are finalists for consideration!! There are 55 finalists and 50 will be chosen for the book. I think that makes my odds of getting published pretty good. Of course, my husband is good at keeping my feet on the ground and reminded me that there is a chance neither story will be selected. But I’m choosing to be optimistic. In fact, I was so excited I had to get on the treadmill and work off some of my energy so I could sit and write for a while. While I won’t make a ton of money (I think I might be able to fill my minivan with gas twice with what I make), it’s a great way for me to get my name out there and recognized by the public and it’s also going to look impressive on my resume. Pray with me that my stories will be selected for the anthology. It will be a while until I hear anything, but I’ll let you know! You’ll probably be able to hear my shouts of joy from wherever you are if my stories are selected.
