Last Friday we enjoyed a field trip to the Milwaukee County Zoo with my parents. We couldn’t have picked a better day. The skies were cloudy and threatening rain and it was warm and humid. Because we went on a Friday afternoon in early September, kids were in school and no one had planned a field trip to the zoo yet. We almost had the place to ourselves. For her “gottcha” day in April, Alyssa had received a certificate to feed the giraffes. She had to go with an adult and she picked my father. They were the only two to feed them that afternoon. The zookeeper even allowed me in with them and I got some fabulous pictures.
We had a wonderful time and it was something I needed so much.
On the writing front, I have been busy with line edits for my two short stories under consideration for publication. I should know something by mid-October and I’ll keep you posted.

How neat! The zoo is fun when it is not so hot and crowded. Maybe we will plan a trip sometime soon.
