No, don’t get too excited by the title. We have a new dog – a two year old black lab named Kylie. (Sorry, Karen, she had that name when we got her and already knew it, so we couldn’t change it!) She had nine – no, that’s not a typo – puppies in August. Her owner couldn’t care for her and abandon her in an old house. He only came to feed her every few days. You look into her big brown eyes and can’t help feeling sorry for her. I can’t believe someone would do that to her. If you can’t take care of an animal, there are so many other, better options than treating them that way. But she was a fabulous mom to her puppies. We got a chance to see them and they were adorable! She was very thin, but has already gained some weight. We had her to the vet yesterday and she is healthy and doing well. She is very smart and is learning our routines and rules (though she will jump on the couch every chance she gets!). She is very sweet and doesn’t mind the kids hanging all over her – which is a good thing because Jonalyn is none too gentle. At first she pulled on the leash and didn’t heel very well, but yesterday she walked beautifully with only a few corrections. Last night when I took her out, there was a deer in the yard. I’m glad I had a good hold of her leash, but I don’t think she would have gone after it. In fact, she was so scared she almost knocked me over in her haste to get back to the house.

She is beautiful! I am glad you and your family chose to take her in. Our animals are outside animals. Sometimes I wish I had the patience for them to be inside because I would like to just sit and love on them.
