Wednesday and Thursday were pretty quiet days. On Wednesday, Alyssa discovered that she likes shuffleboard – and is pretty good at it, too. She beat me! (Not saying too much.) We sort of lazed around on Wednesday until lunch. After we ate we went for a hike on a trail not far from here. We saw lots of interesting sites, ate some wild blueberries (very tart), and saw a snake. Notice on the picture that the snake just had something to eat. My dad discovered a little frog in a hole in the side of a hill. He was so cute! Jonalyn did great on the hike. She needed to hold someone’s hand to stay upright on the uneven terrain, but she was a trooper. After the hike came more swimming, then dinner of turkey burgers and homemade fries along with root beer floats for a treat.
Thursday went much the same way. I’m getting way too used to these lazy mornings. It will be hard next week when the alarm goes off! After lunch we ventured out to a nearby town to do some shopping in between the rain drops. I can’t believe we came home empty handed. We also stopped to see where Doug goes camping each August. Can anyone say mosquitoes? We came back to the cabin in the pouring rain and hail, but it managed to stop long enough for us to make sliced potatoes and sausage in foil on the grill. It really hit the spot.
And that’s about all that happened. My body is finally feeling rested and I’m starting to get anxious to get home and get back to work. Remind me that I said that next week this time, O.K.?
