Today I’m thankful for my parents. Sure, when I was a teenager, I thought they were pretty stupid. We didn’t get along very well then. But now I am so thankful for them. I am thankful that they taught me about Jesus from the very first days of my life. I am thankful for how hard they pushed me and encouraged me to do my best in everything. I’m thankful for how they’ve always been there for me, supported me and Doug in everything, including all three of our adoptions. They never questioned why we did what we did, they welcomed our children and loved them unconditionally. They didn’t try to talk us out of Jonalyn’s adoption and were loving when we discovered how severe Jonalyn’s needs really were. And I’m thankful for the little things they do for us. My dad helped me pick out tomato seeds and ordered them for me. My mom watched Alyssa so much this week and helped with the running. And when Doug forgot to pick her up there last night, my mom didn’t hesitate to keep her overnight. I’m thankful God chose them to be my parents.
