Last week we packed up the camper and headed out to our first camping trip of the season. This was a new place for us, the first time we tried a private campground. We loved it! Because we were there during the week while school was still in session, there weren’t many people there. We were pretty much alone in our area. In fact, we were able to spread out and use two campsites because the owners told us the area would be empty all week.
It started to rain just before we arrived. What a bummer. It’s no fun to set up a campsite in the rain. So we sat in the truck while we waited for it to stop. Here we are:
We ate pretzels and took pictures of the rain:
Finally it let up and we were able to get everything together. I got 11 mosquito bites in the few minutes it took to back the trailer in and get it level. Was I ever glad when I was able to go inside and get the beds made!
By that time it was getting late, so we opted for walking tacos for dinner. The bugs were so bad and everything still so wet, we ate inside. I’m so thankful for our larger camper. But the lights sure did look pretty in the dark.
We enjoyed a few games of Boggle until bedtime. Doug was our grand winner. He’s good at that game. Alyssa is getting better and better and Brian is a tough competitor. I don’t stand a chance! So, after a bit of a rocky start, we had a great first day of camping.

Liz, it looks great!! It’s so nice to see photos of American campers – they’re not so different from our caravans!! The campsite looks very nice and green too. thanks for sharing these pictures.

Sabrina,
We’ll have to play while you’re here. You’ll love it!
