Well, I’ve fallen way behind. I’m having too much fun to sit in front of the computer 🙂
Yesterday we went to Holy Hill – a Catholic monastery on top of a high hill. It’s beautiful, both inside…
…and out.You can climb one of the towers. Jonalyn & I only made it half way, Sabrina & the girls made it a little further, but her husband and son made it all the way to the top. Wow. I’m impressed.
We then went to a cheese store in the area. They have all kinds, including chocolate cheese, cherry Swiss (that would be great on a salad), Munster, all kinds of cheddar, and the list goes on and on. And now I can truly call myself a Wisconsinite – I bought a good cheese slicer. It was a lot of fun. Then on to a truly unique Wisconsin lunch, complete with butter burgers and frozen custard. It’s much smoother and richer than ice cream and way better in my humble opinion. I think they all enjoyed themselves.
Today we ventured out to a local lake. It used to be a quarry that has now filled with water. It may have been a little chilly for these Southerners, but we’ll toughen them up. The kids didn’t seem to mind in the least.
They have a nice sand beach and some play equipment. The girls both managed these monkey bars. They are like two peas in a pod, having the best of times.
We had a great picnic lunch there.
The kids all had a great time and took long naps! Sabrina and I enjoyed some girl time out on the porch swing. It was a gorgeous weather day – sunny, 70’s and low humidity. After a Wisconsin brat dinner, Sabrina and I stuck the men with the kids and took a walk. It was too beautiful to sit inside.
I really hope they are having a good time. If you want the fast-paced action of the city, don’t come visit us. But if you want a relaxing, laid-back vacation, we’re you’re people. Tomorrow, I think we are going to head toward Milwaukee and show them the big city! Don’t we live adventuresome lives?!

We had such an awesome time!!! I did NOT want to leave. At one point we got off the interstate to get coffee and took the northbound ramp by mistake. The kids said, “We’re going back?!” We are blessed to have such wonderful friends!
I promise to post some pictures, but we are tired tonight! 🙂
