On Saturday, I had the privilege of attending a free (my favorite word) writer’s seminar in my area, headed up by Andrea Boeshaar. She is the first Christian writer I ever met (such a thrill for me) and she has cheered me on over the years and is rejoicing with me over my first sale. You need to go over to her website and be sure to read all three of the books in her “Seasons of Redemption” series. You won’t be disappointed.
Anyway, I had a great time. Often, as authors, we work on our computers all day, heads down, and don’t interact with people much. It is so nice to be able to get out and connect with others who understand all of the bizarre behavior which comes with being an author such as calling my kids by my characters’ names, forgetting appointments, waltzing down the stairs while pretending I’m wearing a hoop skirt, speaking in a southern accent when I’m from Wisconsin, etc. No, please don’t call the men in the white suits. I’m pretty normal for an author.
I learned much, especially about the business side of being an author. It’s not much fun, but a necessity. I’m afraid I’m lousy at numbers, though, and record keeping, so this should be interesting.
Well, chapter 33 is calling me. Yes, I’m getting close to finishing my first round of edits on my WWII novel. I hope to submit the manuscript in a few weeks. Then I need a week of vacation. Hmm…somewhere warm and sunny. Think my hubby will take me to Hawaii to celebrate?? No, me either.
