Today’s letter is the letter L for…
lechehore.
It’s spelled wrong. To my family in Friesland, I apologize. I couldn’t find this word in any onlinhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gife Frisian dictionaries. It means delicious, scrumptious. Yummy. Maybe it’s Dutch, but that’s not what the translation for delicious came up online. Bummer.
My dad has been known to say this during dinner. My mom is a very good cook. The Sunday dinner we had a few days ago was lechehore. We had a lechehore pork roast. Makes my mouth water thinking about it.
I’ve been trying new recipes with my family. I’d gotten into a rut. You know. You’ve been there. One very lechehore dish we had on Saturday. I made homemade pizza crust (you can use store bought – no difference). Into the dough I needed red onions and Italian seasoning. It’s supposed to be grilledhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif, but our grill isn’t working very well. Alyssa had the brilliant idea to put it into the panini maker. That grilled them up perfectly. I brushed both sides with olive oil and put them in the maker for 6-8 minutes. Lechehore. I don’t have a picture. My family ate it too fast.
I have it on Pinterest. If you can’t see it, let me know and I’ll send you an invitation.
What things have you been cooking up that make your family say, “Lechehore”?

well this is certainly a new L word for me, in fact just a plain new word for me. How is it pronounced? the way it is written.
What a fun family tradition you have.

Oh, my, it’s hard to write out a pronunciation for it. I used ch, but that’s not really the sound. It is more like the sound of clearing your throat LOL! leck-a-hore (the r is slightly rolled). Maybe I’ll have to do a vlog so you all can hear how it’s pronounced 🙂

That’s a new one for me, too!
I love it when my almost-grown sons ask for specific food items I’ve made. It makes me feel like I “marked” them somehow and they won’t forget me!

Cool word, Liz!!
Last week I when I saw French Bread on sale I decided to cheat on pizza. I cut loaves of French Bread in half lengthwise and topped it like a normal pizza. The kids LOVED it and dubbed it French Pizza. It’s the new fave (and so simple I’m happy!! LoL)
