Ah, I still love a good romance. Lots of tender looks, a little longing, a brush of the hand. Give it to me any day.
Last night Alyssa and I watched Pride and Prejudice. I love that movie. This is the Kiera Knightly version. I’ve been told the PBS version is even better. I’ve seen parts of it, but have yet to watch the entire thing. No matter which format you give it to me in, it’s a great story. A classic romance. I enjoyed it so much I had to watch parts of it twice and the end three times. Doesn’t matter that I have the entire thing memorized. Still love to watch it!
But after 23 years of marriage, I’ve discovered something. Well, I discovered it long before, but you know. My husband is Mr. Un-Romantic. Very much so. But you know what? He comes home to me every night, he works hard at his job to provide for us and works hard around the house to take care of us. He spends time with his children. He loves the Lord and serves his church. That is very romantic to me. Flowers and candy are very nice (hint, hint), but when it comes down to the nitty gritty of every day life – mortgage, health problems, job concerns – friendship and dependability are very sexy.
So, I’ll keep watching Pride and Prejudice and enjoying the “romance” my husband and I share.
What do you find romantic?
