There are so many good books coming out in the next several months that it’s hard to keep up with them all. If you pay even the slightest bit of attention to upcoming releases, you’ll often find that authors promote preorders. Some of them (me included) will often give away preorder gifts and swag. Why is that? Simply put, it’s the world we live in these days, one dominated by Amazon. Like social media sights, Amazon has an algorithm that determines much of what you see while you’re on their website. Authors and publishers want you to see their books when you’re browsing Amazon. You know, when you’re looking at a produce at see You Might Also Like This or People Who Bought This Item Also Bought This. One huge part of the algorithm is how many preorders a book gets. The more preorders, the more likely it is that the book will pop up on other pages, leading to more sales. More sales mean higher visibility which means more sales. And on and on it goes. At the end of the day, publishing, even Christian publishing, is a business. If a book doesn’t sell well, the publisher won’t offer that author more contracts. It almost pushed me out of the industry once (and could at any time), and I’ve seen it happen to some pretty talented writers. Preorders also can help boost a book’s release day numbers and help push it to becoming an Amazon bestseller. And who doesn’t want to be an Amazon bestseller? There are other factors that go into that, but preorders are one of them. And if you preorder, you can wake up to the book on your Kindle or in your mailbox on release day! You can be among the first to read it and review it. You’ll be the envy of all your reader friends LOL! If you want to help an author out, please preorder. Maybe you’ll get some swag from it. Maybe you’ll just get the satisfaction that you’re helping an author to keep doing what they love. Whatever the reason, every author will be so grateful to you for preordering their book. And for sharing with others that their book is available for preorder. Speaking of preordering, I have a couple of great books for you to hop online and get your orders in now. |
Another great one to preorder that’s releasing on November 8th is Tessa Afshar’s new book, The Hidden Prince.
From the bestselling author of Jewel of the Nile comes the thrilling tale of a womanwho feels she has no future but soon discovers the fate of nations may rest in her hands.
The beloved daughter of Jewish captives in Babylon, Keren is sold into Daniel’s household to help her family survive. She becomes Daniel’s most trusted scribe, while taking lessons and swordsmanship training alongside Daniel’s sons and their best friend, Jared.
But after a tragic accident changes the course of her life, Keren finds herself in a foreign country, charged with a mysterious task: teaching a shepherd boy how to become a lord. When she overhears whispers that hint at his true identity, she realizes she must protect him from the schemes of a bloodthirsty king.
Jared cannot forgive Keren. Still, he finds himself traveling over mountains to fetch her back to the safety of home. When he discovers the secret identity of Keren’s pupil, Jared knows he must help protect him. Love battles bitterness as they flee from the king’s agents, trying to save the boy who could one day deliver their people from captivity.
There’s a great $9.99 preorder price for the Kindle version.
And of course, I’d love it if you preordered What I Would Tell You. January will be here before we know it (sorry to have to say that), and there will be some fun stuff for those who preorder. Keep your eyes open for that. Let’s see if we can get this one to be a #1 New Release!!
DNA Test Unlocks a Family Mystery
Sephardic Jew Mathilda Nissim watches in horror as the Germans invade her beloved city of Salonika, Greece. What angers her most is the lack of resistance her people put up to their captors. In secret and at great risk to her life, she continues to publish her newspaper, calling her people to action. She doesn’t trust God to help them. When she and her husband find out they are expecting a child, Mathilda may have to resort to desperate measures to ensure her daughter’s survival.
Three generations later, college student Tessa Payton and her cousin take a popular DNA test only to discover they don’t share any common ancestors. In fact, the test shows Tessa is a Sephardic Jew from Greece. This revelation shakes Tessa’s tenuous faith and sends her on a journey to discover what happened to her great-grandmother and how all this relates to her faith and her life today.
