On this week’s episode, we discuss the question, “Is Romance Dead?” You commented on the question on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and it was great to get your feedback. We had some answers on each side of the fence, and we discuss what it is readers want from romance now.
Do you still enjoy the straight formula romances, or do you want romance to take a back seat to whatever else is happening in the story?
Join me for this very interesting discussion. Thank you all so much for your input on this episode. I couldn’t have done it without you. Be sure to connect with Christian Historical Fiction Talk on social media to enjoy the conversation and get your input into some of the episodes.

I missed the poll on Facebook, and I’m behind on listening to the podcast, but I’ve been able to get caught up this week and I wanted to chime in my thoughts.
I agree that it seems the trend is heading more towards novels with story lines that include, but aren’t solely romance, and I like this trend. My mom and I have this discussion all the time, she likes to read what she calls “fluff” — by this she means books that really don’t take much thought to read. She does not mean this in an insulting way, and I totally get what she means by it, and I will admit that every so often, a “fluff” book is what we all need to read, but over the past few years, I have found I really do want to read books with more “meat” to them. I like a book with a strong story line and the romantic element is really a secondary story.
I am a librarian, and I am always thrown when a patron requests a book, Christian fiction or otherwise, that contains NO romance … honestly, that’s pretty hard to find!
I love listening to your podcast! Keep up the great work.

Thank you so much for your kind words about the podcast. I’m glad you’re enjoy it. I totally get what you mean about wanting to read “fluff” from time to time. It’s like needing to watch a sappy chick flick 🙂
