I’m so excited to be part of Celebrate Lit’s new Ever After mystery series. There are so many great authors in it! And isn’t the cover GORGEOUS! Oh my!
This book got its start one evening in Southern California over a year and a half ago. I was out there to teach at a conference, and I was walking to get some frozen yogurt with the fabulous Chautona Havig and some others when she mentioned this series to me. When she told me it would be retelling fairy tales as 1920s mysteries, I was intrigued.
She went on to start listing some possible fairy tales I could use. When she came to The Lost Princess, that was it for me. Immediately, I had an idea of a Russian princess forced to flee during the 1917 revolution, ending up in Paris, and meeting a wounded WWI vet. Strange how an author’s mind works, isn’t it? I mean, the concept came to me in exactly one second.
It’s been fun to explore 1920s Paris. Much of the story centers around the Louvre and a painting inside there. I searched for a painting that would have been on display there at that time that would fit the story but with little luck. So one day I was speaking with Kristy Cambron (sorry about the name dropping), who was an art history major. She suggested making up a painting and an artist. That was the ticket. The story flowed from there.
I can’t wait to share this story with you.

I just finished reading The Refrain Within, again it’s another one of your books that I enjoy. I’m waiting for the next WWII book. I am also interested in the Slashed Canvas.
I’ll be waiting to hear from you.
