All you need in that serene scene is a good book…and A Joyful Christmas novella collection would be the perfect choice.

One of my favorite Christmas memories was my mother’s last Christmas when I was a teen. It was sweet and sad, and will forever be in my heart.

How nice that you have that memory forever with you to cherish.

My favorite Christmas memory is the year we traveled from PA to AR and while at my mom’s a major ice storm hit my hometown where we were visiting. No one could get out or in to visit so we were stuck with no electricity and two pork roasts (I don’t even like pork). You expect that kind of thing in PA but not so much in AR. This we’ve moved back to AR and I’m enjoying being home.
liztolsma@gmail.com says
Oh no! That is one of those times you’re groaning while it’s happening but you caught about later. Enjoy being back in Arkansas. And hopefully no ice storms this year!

A favorite Christmas memory is getting a package in the mail from my aunt and cousins in Florida. She sent oranges and grapefruit and kumquats. She would also hand make gifts for us kids. One year we got pillows in the shape of Santa’s face. We always looked forward to those packages!

My favorite Christmas memory was the year my grandparents spent Christmas at our house. My grandfather had been in the hospital and our house was much closer for them to go and spend Christmas with us. In the past, we always went to their house.

Christmas Eve we’d all pile in the car for our Christmas Eve Service. Grandpa always seemed to forget something and would say he’d meet us at Church. After our music concert, we’d head home only to find Santa had arrived while we were at Church. We would open all of our gifts every year on Christmas Eve with Mom and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa enjoying all the surprises as much as we 5 kids did.

When I was a child, Santa came to my home on Christmas Eve to tuck me into bed. I had on my red and white stripped pajamas. My parents took pictures of him tucking me in. I did not know until i was an adult that it really was my Uncle Mike. He never told me. I figured it out by looking closely at the picture.

My son was fresh out of high school and decided he was joining the Army. As a mother I did not want that. But was something he wanted to do. as he is in the recruiters office came across the TV The Twin towers was hit. They asked him you sure you want to join? He said yes he needed to fight for our Country. He went to Iraq and fought on the front line. Was at the takeover of airport and the palace. Christmas was coming soon. They was told they all be held over there. Christmas was not a time of joy for me. Our other son invited us out for dinner and went even though was sad he wasn’t with us. We get there and they took me to the private dining room. I looked up and my son was there. His Sargent bought him home for a 3 day. Was best Christmas gift ever,

My favorite Christmas memory is going through the Oglebay Festival of Lights in Wheeling, WV. We used to drive through the display each year, then stop at the gift shop and the indoor theater for the laser light show. It was magical!

When my sister was 3 1/2 years old on November 18, 1982 she was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. She was in the hospital until December 24 when my dad secretly went and secretly picked up my mom and sister from the hospital and brought them home for Christmas. Although, they had to return to the hospital on December26, 1982 it was the best Christmas we ever had. My dad had lost his job a few months before my sister got sick. We didn’t have much in terms of gifts but we had everything we could every want and need.

My favorite Christmas memory is the year my granddaughter, Meighan, wanted the game Hungry Hungry Hippos. They lived in NC and my daughter could not find the game locally. This was before online shopping. My daughter here in PA was unsuccessful too. Then her boss found one in his hometown.. Christmas morning when Meighan opened her gift, she was so excited. She turned to each of us in the room and said, LOOK!! it’s Hungry Hungry Hippo!! So wish I had a video of her absolute joy.
