Did you hear that Jen Turano is coming out with a new book? It’s called To Steal a Heart, and you do not want to miss out on it!
After a childhood as a street thief, Gabriella Goodhue thought she’d put her past behind her until a fellow resident at her boardinghouse is unjustly accused of theft. In the middle of breaking into a safe that holds the proof to prove her friend’s innocence, Gabriella is interrupted by Nicholas Quinn, the man she once considered her best friend–until he abandoned her.
After being taken under the wing of a professor who introduced him into society and named him as heir, Nicholas is living far removed from his childhood life of crime. As a favor to a friend, Nicholas agreed to help clear the name of an innocent woman, never imagining he’d be reunited with the girl he thought lost to him forever.
As Gabriella and Nicholas are thrown together into one intrigue after another, their childhood affection grows into more, but their newfound feelings are tested when truths about their past are revealed and danger follows their every step.

I will answer your question while I am here. My now husband of almost 13 years stole my heart one night in the local ER. I had an emergency & my sister called to let him know. He was at a ball game & came straight to the ER. He stayed til 2AM holding my hand despite having to be at work at 4:30AM. I knew he’d hold my hand through the rest of our lives, & he has!

Unfortunately since my husband, with whom I still love being, and I have been married for 45 years, our dog “Puppy” is no longer alive. However, we have fond memories of her.

I met my hubby at church when invited to sing there. He was teaching a singles class and I was the only one who showed up that Sunday. I was instantly smitten with him and after services, he asked for my number. I lived a 2 hour drive away and I think I floated home, then called my mother and told her I had met the man I was going to marry! Thirty-two years and counting…happily married. He certainly stole my heart that day.

Obviously my husband stole my heart, but since pets were mentioned, I’ve had one cat that did too.
Years ago when my husband & I were just dating, I had a neighbor gal that was giving kittens away. So we both fell in love with the runt of the litter and I brought her home to live with me. We had her 12 years when she got sick and died, and I was heartbroken! I wasn’t ready to get another cat because she was so special to me. Lo and behold, about a year later my husband & I went to our local animal shelter for a Halloween party they have to raise money as well as encourage pet adoptions. I went into the cat room “just to look”, but none of them caught my eye. I still wasn’t looking to adopt, but then the last kennel on the very bottom right corner had the sweetest cat face looking up at me with big yellow eyes! She didn’t meow or demand my attention, but there was just something about her that tugged at my heart. I asked if I could hold her and when I did, I KNEW I couldn’t leave without adopting her! She was the sweetest cat we ever had with fluffy black fur and loved to be where we were. 🙂

Stolen my heart? So many loving and loyal 4-legged pets over the years. They just melt your heart. My son was born after a long & difficult labor. I could hear him crying while the MD was stitching me up & I told my husband that our son had a nice cry. When I was able to hold him, my heart was overwhelmed with love & thanksgiving to God for this wonderful gift. I guess you could say that my heart was stolen by our little one, who we named Matthew, which means Gift From God. God blessed us again with Matt’s unshrill, “nice” cry since he suffered from colic & cried a great deal for months.
I experienced the same overwhelming love & gratitude when our daughter was born & I’m sure that every parent goes through a somewhat similar experience.
Hesper Fry says
My husband stole my heart back in high school and now we have been married 26 years!
Betty Curran says
Funny you should mention a pet in your question. Although I love my children and grandchildren dearly I lost my heart to a cat. My granddaughter and I went to the local humane society to get a cat to replace the one I had lost a few years before. I had a specific idea of what I wanted – short hair, white or black and white, already declawed. I didn’t see one that matched what I wanted so I went into the area where I could sit on the floor and have the cats come to visit with me. One cat seemed determined to get in my lap. Long haired, tortoiseshell, with all of her claws. Not what I wanted at all!!! But she was one determined cat. Every time I pushed her away she came back. I finally decided she had picked me, not the other way around. I took her home and she firmly took over my heart. She loved everyone and every animal she met. She was my companion for 17 years and I cried like a baby when she died.
