True confession time. I try really, really, really hard not to peek at the ending of a book. I do. But sometimes, I can’t help it. I might burst if I don’t know the ending. Literally. I have to know now.
I think that’s why I’ve been watching the news again lately. I want to know what happened to that airliner missing from Malaysia. The story fascinates me. What went wrong? Why? Inquiring minds want to know.
And what about Ukraine and Crimea? Will they vote to go with Russia? What will the West and the US do? I realize this is history being written, but I’d like to flip to the end of the book and find out what happens.
I love seeing my kids growing up and finding out what their lives are going to look like. Who will they marry? How many kids will they have – and how soon? Where will they live? I’m trying not to get to that ending too soon!
When I write, it’s what spurs me on. I have to know the ending. How did they get their happily-ever-after – if indeed they got one! How did everything turn out? I have as much fun discovering my endings as I hope my readers do.
Of course, if I had peeked ahead to the ending of a book I read recently, I could have saved myself time because I wouldn’t have read the rest of the book. An unsatisfying ending, to say the least. I could have thrown the book against the wall hours earlier than I did. (That’s figurative since I have a Nook, just so you know LOL!)
So, how about you. Do you peek? Would you like to?
DON’T YOU DARE PEEK AT THE END OF MINE!!! Keep reading. No unsatisfying endings, I promise.

I also try really, really hard not to peak. I do much better at not peaking now than I used to. 🙂
