My husband and I did something out of the ordinary for us – we left our girls for a week and spent 7 days together in Mexico. Cancun to be exact. Ahh, we picked a good time of the year to go! It was a wonderful time of reconnecting and laughing and talking and just being together.
The sun coming up somewhere over Illinois. Our flight there was VERY early in the morning. |
Our hotel, the Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun. It was truly beautiful at night. |
And lovely during the day, too. |
We’re having fun. |
The eastern most point of Mexico. Cool! |
Shrimp tacos at Punta Sur. They were DELICIOUS! |
Playa Norte, a lovely beach. You can see the clouds rolling in. The next day was rainy. |
I just couldn’t capture the charm of this street with all of the vendors lining it. |
Back at the hotel. Don’t you feel relaxed just looking at it??? |
Ice on the lake. |
A very chilly Milwaukee coming into view. |
It was a great celebration. We relaxed on the beach and by the pool and ate way too much food. I missed my girls like crazy, though, and even though the temperature is -2 today, it’s good to be home.

Oh so wonderful that you and hubby went to Isla M…My friend and her hubby spent over a month staying on the island…Barlito’s was one of their favorite spots to eat..The owners are ex-pats who live there now….Oh to be able to go there and get away from home for a time…
And my sister lives near Oshkosh and is tired of the below zero weather…
All my friends and family in the Frozen Tundra are looking forward to Spring…
Love from NC

Thanks, Sandy, for the nice comment. I’ll keep Barlito’s in mind for when we go next time. We had a snack at Qubanos and loved it. Also owned by an ex-pat. My dream would be to rent a house for 3 months and spend the time on the balcony overlooking the Caribbean writing to my heart’s content. Ah, some day đ
