Saturday was a beautiful day for a walk – as beautiful a day as it gets to be here in Wisconsin in December. We’ve had snow and cold with more predicted (I’m not sure we made it to double digits today), so I took advantage of a day in the 30s. We live in a beautiful area and these are some of the scenes from my walk.

I don’t know – I’ve always loved this little group of trees.

Many people around here plant pine trees for privacy. That’s why they move to this area. We’ve just about reached our goal of not being able to see our neighbors from our windows.

I’m trying to give you a geography lesson here. See the trees on the left? They look like they are growing out of a hole in the ground. Pretty much, they are. The large divot is called a kettle. It was carved out by the glaciers. Behind in, on the right, is a moraine. It’s where the glacier dropped all of the stuff it carved out of the kettle. It’s full of rocks! There are kettles and moraines all over the are where I walk.
