Good thing that I changed the title of this blog to Changing Scenes. This year has been all about changes for our family.
Sunday was one of the hardest days yet. Brian left for Marine boot camp. My baby is all grown up, entering the “real” world. This is his dream, what he has wanted for a very long time. We know he goes in God’s hands, but it doesn’t mean we don’t miss him. How bizarre to set the table for only four each night for dinner. How bizarre to have Alyssa sleeping in his room. How bizarre to not have any contact other than letters for the next thirteen weeks.
He got his one phone call home today. (That sounds like prison, doesn’t it?) Anyway, he had a script he had to read. The entire call lasted 12 seconds. But I heard his voice and it sounded like him. What a blessed relief.
Do I ever miss those sweet baby days. Yet God is working in our children’s lives and it is wonderful to see. Please pray for my son. These next weeks will be a true challenge for him. Pray for his physical, psychological and spiritual well being.

Hi Liz, I remember getting that first call too. I have been praying for you and your son.
I came over because of your message on the ACFW Loop. Your book sounds wonderful! I will look forward to reading it later this summer.
Blessings,
