I’ll admit it. I love my outside garden and things do pretty well growing for me. Indoor plants – another story. My mother is very good at them. You should see her African violets and clivia. Wow. I did not get that gene. And it might have something to do with not watering those plants on a consistent basis. I like it when God does the watering LOL!

But, I might have gotten the hang of Christmas cactus. My mom’s are beautiful. Loaded with blossoms. Amazing. Mine? Yeah, no blooms. Ever. I was excited this year that the one my friend gave me got two buds.

Then I checked on the one my mother gave me. The one that never bloomed for me. I tried something different this year. It spent the summer in the sunroom, soaking up all that light. When it got too cold out there, I moved it into the sunniest window in the house – and away from the dog’s tail.

And the results:

So, what have I learned? Put it in the sunniest place in your house. No sun, no blooms. Fertilize it every week. I have some I put right into the water. This year, I dried it out for the month of October. It stayed in the sun but received no water. Don’t panic – it might look like it’s dying, but it’s fine. It will perk right back up when you water it again. Mine bloomed when advertized – Christmas!

Fingers crossed now that I will get it to bloom two years in a row!
