Every now and again, you have a moment with one of your children that is so special and so rare, you know you need to cherish every minute of it. That’s what I had last night with Alyssa.
I was watching My Fair Wedding and I called Alyssa in to see a part of the episode. She sat down and we talked about the choices and what we liked and didn’t like. (If you don’t know the show, this wedding planner comes in 3 weeks before a bride’s wedding and changes everything. All his choices.)
The conversation progressed from there to include dating, how Doug and I met, what true beauty was and so many other subjects. It was a wonderful time of sharing and teaching. I got to know my daughter better and hopefully, impart some wisdom that will go with her as she grows.
She is such a beautiful and special young woman, and I can’t believe God chose me to be her mother. We talked until midnight. I didn’t want the conversation to end. When your child becomes a teen and they still want to tell you about themselves and ask your opinion about things, that is a rare gem. Last night is a night I will treasure forever.
