I’m thrilled to have author Diana Brandmeyer join us today. She’s the author of the book A Bride’s Dilemma in Friendship, Tennessee, which released earlier this year. Let’s get to know her a little better.
- What was your inspiration for this book?
The publisher has asked for log cabins and Christmas to be part of the stories submitted for an anthology. Heaven and Angel sort of came to me, alone on Christmas waiting for someone. I wanted to find out whom that someone was—turned out to be Travis.
- Is there a particular reason you picked Tennessee for your setting?
I like Tennessee. We’ve been there several times and one day hope to move to that state.
- Is Friendship, Tennessee a real place? If so, what is it like today?
It is a real town. And it is pretty much the same size; a lot of the old buildings are still there. The ladies at city hall were helpful in telling me about their town.
- What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?
Getting it done quickly! I had 8 months to write it but I did it in five, so there would be time to edit.
- What is your favorite part of the book?
When they return from town after the tornado and find Mr. Jackson with a book in his mouth.
- How long have you been writing?
Since I was 9, but I didn’t get serious about it until I was 30 and I’m not telling you how old I am. J
- What is one interesting thing about you that your readers might not know?
I’m not sure how interesting this is but I have to eat gluten free which means I had to relearn how to cook three years ago. There have been some odd creations and not always tasty things happening in my kitchen.

But is she a panster or a planner as she writes? 🙂 Nice to get to know you here, Diana. Sorry you have to do the gluten-free thing. I’ve not “had” to but have tried to limit it and it can be difficult! Blessings on your book!

hi Susan,
I’m a bit of both. I have a general idea of where the story needs to go. I will say I have become more of a planner than I ever thought I would because it takes less time to write a story if you don’t follow rabbit trails.
