Yes, I’m out of creative titles. Jonalyn had two doctor’s appointments this week. The first was her pre-op physical with her pediatrician. While we were there, we threw in her 10 year well child check-up. She is 47 pounds and 49 inches tall. That’s 1.3 percentile in height and .4% in weight. Yes, she’s a peanut. Growing in her own way, at her own pace. Otherwise, she’s as healthy as can be. Her heart and lungs sound good, so as long as she doesn’t catch a cold or something between now and next Friday, she is good to go for surgery.
The other appointment was unrelated to her surgery – a follow-up with her neurologist.
Actually, we never saw the neurologist, just a nurse and a PA. Anyway, we’ve made it to the ten month mark seizure free. The trouble is, her EEG continues to show abnormal electrical activity. Because she has grown, she now needs a larger dose of anti-seizure medication. Hopefully, she will adapt to it well before her surgery. The PA doesn’t anticipate any problems while she is under anesthesia because it’s the best anti-seizure med there is!
Next Friday is looming ever closer. She doesn’t know what is coming, but we do. Nerves are beginning to set in. We know this is best for her, but it’s hard to watch your child in pain. Please pray for peace for all of us.
