I’m jumping back into this one. I petered out on the last one, but I need inspiration.
So, A is for AUGUST
August is such a month of transition. It’s like the world is holding it’s breath, waiting for what comes next.
The charm of early summer has worn off. It’s hot and dry and a bowl of chili and a fleece sweatshirt sound so good.
But it’s not fall yet. The kiddos haven’t returned to school – soon, though, very soon! The nights aren’t frosty and the apples and pumpkins aren’t ready to be picked.
There are still weeds in my garden, the lawn is hanging on by a thread, and one of my hanging pots is brown and crunchy from lack of rain.
Thinking on the positives – we can soak up the last of the sunshine and the warmth. It’s the month to can and freeze and prepare for winter. School shopping is fun – new shirts, new pants, new pencils and notebooks. There are back-to-school resolutions from both kids and parents that rival New Year’s. Hey – there are good things about August!!
August is the last chance to fit in a vacation or camping trip. It’s a great time, actually. Rates at many places drop by the end of the month!
And it’s Jonalyn’s birthday!! That makes August a super good month.
What you do like or dislike about August?

That birthday seems to me like the best reason to like August.

August is usually vacation month for us. This year it’s felt like August since June and I’m ready for fall. 🙂

What a sweet little birthday face! Happy Birthday to Jonalyn! I too, have a birthday in August. It’s a great month, isn’t it? ;]

August is very busy here on the farm. Our beehives are full of honey that needs to be extracted. The garden is finally kicking into gear, and many days, supper chooses itself out of what most needs harvesting.
Our nights here are cooling off nicely while the days are still plenty warm. Thankfully the flush of mosquitoes is mostly past.
Thanks for making me think of how much I actually like August!

As a senior citizen, August is a great time to get a few things done before the September RV trip. I enjoy summer and then I enjoy the quieter roads when school is in session.

August? Usually it’s super hot–bordering on miserable, but this year it’s cooler. Also, the end of August brings the State Fair–a big fave of mine. =] And it’s my youngest’s birthday too. =]
