Why, oh why, oh why don’t I trust the Lord’s provision? Shouldn’t I know better? You’d think I’d learn.
But I don’t. He has to keep teaching me. Time and time again.
When I opened this afternoon’s mail, there was an envelope. I thought I knew what was inside. I almost didn’t open it.
I had no clue what would fall out. No clue.
I can’t speak. I truly can’t. My tears began to fall.
Because God is good. So very, very good.
What was inside went beyond my imaginations. Way, way, way beyond.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians [3:20]-21)
Now, if only I’d remember that lesson.
**Update: I was purposefully vague earlier, but since many of you have asked, I’ll explain a little bit further. What fell out of that envelope was a royalty check. I never expected to make back my advance, let alone get a royalty check. And not one for the size of the check that fluttered out of that envelope. We sold an amazing number of books. Amazing. The money, of course, came at the perfect time. Our van has required two expensive repairs in the last month. We just got the bill for our increased car insurance after Brian got his license. The kids’ school re-enrollment forms came with a bill for the fee. And God provided just what we needed just when we needed it. I’m still in awe.
