Oh my, is that really happening to me? Inside, I still often feel like a 16 year old girl. But that can’t be because on Tuesday I’ll become the mother of a 16 year old boy. Yikes! Where did the time go? I’m not the mother of small children anymore. I’m an experienced mom.
Another sign of growing older – reading glasses. I don’t need much help, just a little. Doug’s eyes are worse (he is 17 days older than I am!) and he says my glasses from the dollar store don’t do him any good. But I need them. I had to take them to church this morning to read the Bible and sing the hymns. That can’t be me.
Yet we spoke with my parents today – both in their 70’s – and remarked at how much healthier and livelier older people are today. My mom’s parents felt old when they hit 50. However much I’d like to deny it, it’s not that far away for me. But my parents are anything other than the typical senior citizens. They both walk several miles every day and do all their housework and gardening on their own. My dad is slowing down and is starting to talk about assisted living, but really, they would be miserable there. They are too active for that. My dad just finished a year-long stint as an interim pastor for a church when they were looking for a new pastor. He is preaching both services at our daughter church today. Yes, 70 is the new 50. And 4* is the new 25. Right??
So, I refuse to feel old, even if I’m having a hard time seeing this computer screen ๐

It must be the kids’ fault!! It’s when they become older that we start to FEEL older! (Or think we should be feeling older…) So I reckon we should blame it all on them ๐
Happy Birthday to your son. February is a good month! ๐ Friday is my birthday, Sunday is my son Daniel (he’ll turn 13) and Monday the 21st my youngest turns 2!! I’ll have 3 teenagers! Talk about feeling old…
