I am so thankful for the great teachers Jonalyn has. She has made such gains this year. To most, they aren’t anything to get excited about. You’d expect the typical 4K kid to have learned the sounds for three letters already this year. But for Jonalyn, this is HUGE! They started a new multi-sensory program with her that she loves and is motivated to use. While we are dealing with issues that come because she is in a public school, we are thankful for the teachers there who love her.
A little story, if you’ll indulge me: On Saturday night we went to my parents’ house for dinner. One of my sisters was still there. While waiting for supper, we played a rousing game of Uno. Jonalyn had to sit on my lap. She didn’t get the concept of the game, but loved putting down the correct colored card on the pile – 100% of the time, I may add. When we had a wild card and needed to choose a new color, she happily shouted out the color she wanted. My almost 7 year old nephew lost interest in the game quickly, but Jonalyn remained intent the entire time we played (5 or 6 hands). Even a year ago, this wouldn’t have happen. We praise the Lord for the good work He’s doing in her.
