No, nothing earth-shattering. Not to you. Maybe to me. We are in the process of redecorating our house. I’m up to my ears in paint. Here’s a picture of the kitchen before we started:

90’s country cute. I’m going for a little more of a sophisticated look now.
These are the counters I have picked out:

They are Silest*ne Quartz. Should hide the crumbs better than my white counters!
And the backsplash:

or something like this. I can’t get a picture of the exact thing. I’ll have the tiles at the top of the backsplash on a diagonal, a bull nose piece, then the last row will be squares.

Now, on to the floors. We’ll have tile in the mud room and the powder room. Hardwood floors throughout the rest of the first floor. Bye-bye cheap linoleum!! We’re going with a character hickory (it’s hard and hides what spots and scratches there will be). Which do you think?

I don’t have lights picked out yet. We will get under the cabinet lights and I’m gunning for some recessed lights, too. Our kitchen is on the north side of our house. I’ll get some kind of light with a colored shade to add some zip to an otherwise brown room. Maybe Tiffany style?

I’m going to paint the kitchen now. I’ll take some pics so you can see the mess it is! I’ll keep posting as our project moves along.
