When I was little, a wonderful elderly lady from our church made our family an Easter cake every year. But not just any cake. Get a load of this. It was an angel food cake with a lemon filling in the middle. Then she frosted it with a gooey seven minute frosting and covered it with coconut. Enough for you? No, she didn’t stop there. She then decorated it with chicks and peeps and jelly beans. I remember it clearly and remember it as being very good.
So yesterday, we went to my parent’s house for dinner. Mom told me she had a surprise for me and she pulled out an Easter cake just like the ones we had when I was little!! I recognized it right away. I was so excited. And sick by the time I finished eating my piece. Oh my, my stomach doesn’t handle food like it did when I was young 🙂 But it was yummy and I enjoyed the surprise so much. Mom got out the picture album and sure enough, there was a snapshot of Mrs. Steven’s Easter cake. I’ll get the album from Mom this week and hopefully have some pictures for Foto Friday. Look for it!

Hi Liz. Thanks for the comment. From NJ, huh? I thought you had more class than most! Actually, I grew up in Bergen County – Upper Saddle River to be exact.
