We had an appointment on Monday for Jonalyn to be fitted for her orthotics. Turns out, that’s probably not what she will have. The doctor measured her, watched her walk, studied her feet and twisted them this way and that. She said “Ow” a couple of times, but she uses the word to not only indicate pain but also if something is strange or weird. She giggled uncontrollably at times when he worked with her feet. This girl is ticklish! At last he casted her, to get a good impression of her feet. She sat so nicely, looking at the pictures in a magazine, not bothering much with what he was doing to her. When he told her to lift her toes, she did. He got a good impression of one foot and a usable impression of the other. He is going to speak to her PT so together they can decide exactly what was the best course for her.
What she will most likely get is this support for her heels. It should also help with her toe dragging and give her an arch. This is what it looks like:

Here’s also an idea of what Jonalyn’s straps will look like. The boy isn’t wearing the shorts she will and her straps only go to her knees, but it gives you an idea. And look at how nice and straight his feet are!

Very interesting. I didn’t know they could do things like that!
