Another Christy award for Lynn Austin? I think so. I recently checked out “Though Waters Roar” from the library on the recommendation of my mother. She was right. This is another fabulous book by one of my favorite authors. Lynn Austin tells the story of four generations of women – Hannah, Bebe, Lucy and Harriet – and interweaves them beautifully. The stories overlap each other and intertwine, but not in a way that the book gets confusing, not an easy feat to accomplish. Each woman’s character is deep and well defined and her story well developed. Lynn creates a tale which shows how the generations before us affect us, define us, and sometimes burden us. Harriet finds herself in jail, but asks, in the very first chapter, “How did I get here?” The question isn’t answered until the final chapters, and then, in a surprising way. By reviewing the lives of her great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother, and all the wonderful and heroic things they’ve done, Harriet learns something about herself and about God. “Though Waters Roar” is a wonderful read, one you won’t want to put down.

Sounds great!!! When do you find the time to read as much as you do? I struggle to find time sometimes. ๐

I really don’t read that much during the school year. I wasn’t going to get a book at the library, but when I saw it on the shelf, I couldn’t wait. Alyssa & I had a couple of DEAR (drop everything and read) sessions last week. Otherwise I snuck in a few minutes when I could. Plus I’m a fast reader.

I need to make time, you know….like now instead of blogging! ๐
Hey, we got a thing in the mail with a free book. It’s Wellspring of Magic. Have you heard of it? Seen any reviews? I am kind of picky as to what I let Kati read. I plan to read it first, but if you’ve heard of it…share your thoughts.
