…or walking it, in my case. The weather has been beautiful here lately and I’ve been taking advantage of it and walking the dog. The area we live in is quite hilly and I’ll admit I was pretty tired by the end of our walk the other day. I haven’t been exercising as much as I should recently. As I was coming up the driveway, I felt a real sense of accomplishment. I did it – power walked 2 miles. Then I thought of the Bible passage that speaks of running the race. The Lord doesn’t give me a flat road to run. It has its ups and downs, its hills and valleys. Things are sometimes good and I feel great. Life is easy and I the cruise control. But then the hills hit. It’s a struggle to get through each day. Will I make it? When will this crisis end? And if I haven’t been spending time in the Word and prayer like I should be, it’s even harder. I’m huffing and puffing by the end. God is faithful, though, and he’s with me all the way, encouraging me, strengthening me, guiding me. And when I finish the race, what a prize awaits me. My Lord will be waiting for me at the finish line, holding a crown and saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” And that is what I’m thankful for this Thursday.
