FOR TODAY November 9, 2009
Outside my window…I’m lovin’ this Indian summer. The trees are bare but the grass is still green, so it’s not as ugly as November in Wisconsin can be sometimes.
I am thinking…about the thanksgiving prayer someone had in church. They needed the H1N1 shot for their son with diabetes. There was a clinic this morning, which began during church. They refused to miss church, but went after the service. The clinic had run out a while before, but someone at the county opened a box of serum and once opened, it needs to be used. They arrived at the clinic just as they received the serum. If they had missed church, they wouldn’t have gotten the shot. God is faithful to the faithful.
I am thankful for…a cat who sleeps curled up on my feet at night. Keeps my cold tootsies warm!
From the learning rooms…We had a fun week last week, making homemade fortune cookies (sooo good!) and homemade tortillas. This week we get to start a new unit in Spanish which should be fun. Brian had good reports at his parent/teacher conferences (way to go, B!) and Jonalyn’s are this week.
From the kitchen…Grandma’s Dutch meatball soup. Don’t turn your nose up – it’s delicious. She put nutmeg in the meatballs which gives them a unique flavor. The small meatballs are cooked in a chicken broth base with carrots, celery, rice and noodles. Yummy. Maybe I’ll make some French bread to go with it.
I am creating…a new website for our church. I found an easy program and have put together something that those who have seen it like. It goes before the elders this week for final approval. I’m nervous about that.
I am wearing…my warm, fluffy mauve robe. It’s an oldy but a goody.
I am reading…Brian’s science and geography books so I can help him study for some upcoming tests.
I am hoping…that I have a good, productive week. I learned a new scheduling tactic at a conference at our church and I’m trying to implement it. It worked two weeks ago, but last week was crazy and it fell apart. But I’m not giving up. Hopefully I’ll have time for exercise and house cleaning.
I am praying…for endurance. Sometimes the road seems so long and it’s easy to give up and walk away from problems.
I am going…the usual Monday places – piano lessons, pick up the kids from school. I don’t know about scrapbooking yet.
Around the house…lots of picking up and putting back into place after we cleaned our carpets on Saturday.
I am hearing…the hum of the computer, Doug brushing his teeth. All is pretty quiet.
One of my favorite things…giving books away! Stay tuned because in a day or two I’m going to be announcing another book give away. Click here to read a review of the book.
A few plans for the rest of the week: Alyssa and I are going to a weekend getaway with her Korean adoption group. We’re so excited. It will be nice to have some time alone with her that’s not school time. I can’t wait to sit poolside and do nothing 🙂
Here is picture thought I am sharing: a street near our house. Isn’t it gorgeous? And the picture doesn’t do it justice. It doesn’t look like this anymore, but it was beautiful while it lasted.
