I’m up to chapter 10 in editing my latest manuscript. It’s been a long, hard, slow uphill journey to get to this place. I’ve struggled so much to make this book publishable (is that a word?). But I’ve learned so much through this process, too. So, I read through chapter 10 and made some revisions. Then I printed it out and highlighted it in about 5 or 6 different colors. It’s a technique I learned in one of my online classes, and it really does help me see where I need more description or more emotion or where I have too much internal thought and not enough action. So then I went back and made more changes, all by hand because it’s printed out. I figured I’d switch it to my computer when I’m finished. One more time through to tweak a few other things I’ve learned in my classes. So yesterday was the day to transfer it to my computer and send it off to my critique partners for their opinion. But I couldn’t find the pages. NOT. ANY. WHERE. I searched high and low, up and down, in everything. It wasn’t to be found. I had to start over. But PTL, I did remember some (most, actually, I hope) of the changes I made before. With a sigh of relief, I just sent it off to be critiqued. And now I think I’ll back up my computer!! Oh, the life of a writer.
