Outside my window…It’s getting dark. I decorated the posts of my front porch with leaves intertwined with the prettiest orange lights, so I’ve turned them on and they are sending out a pleasant glow.
I am thinking…thank goodness this day is almost over!
I am thankful for…a warm bowl of soup on a cold day. We had some for dinner (see below) and I’m warm all the way down to my toes.
From the learning rooms…Brian is working on his homework. Alyssa had a lot to do to day but is finished now. I still have a pile of papers to grade. I must be giving her too much work!
From the kitchen…We had hamburger soup for dinner. Healthy and low fat, loaded with “supreme lean” ground beef, carrots, onion, celery, garlic, potatoes, low fat/low sodium beef broth, sage, rosemary, thyme. Delicious!
I am creating…a peaceful setting so I can get rid of this throbbing headache. Ugh.
I am wearing…O.K., its the end of the day so I’m down to sweat pants and a Green Bay Packers sweatshirt.
I am reading…The Connected Child by, among others, Dr. Karen Purvis. I attended a conference she spoke at on Saturday and thought she was excellent. So many fantastic insights into adoptive families.
I am hoping…Doug’s meeting tonight isn’t long. I’m eager to have him home.
I am praying…for a happy, settled home.
Around the house…I don’t even want to think about it. Right now Alyssa’s plant experiment is sitting on the table in our family room.
I am hearing…Jonalyn playing, Alyssa playing “bear” with her. The dishwasher running.
One of my favorite things…a clean kitchen, dishes “magically” getting clean in the dishwasher 🙂
A few plans for the rest of the week: not too much going on this week! Hooray! I do have apples to still finish putting up. The applesauce is done, but I’m going to freeze some apple pie filling and apple bread.
Here is picture thought I am sharing…don’t you love this chickadee? Doug took this picture. He’s definitely the photog in this family.

A beautiful picture. It sound like you are fixed for the cold months with apples. I love all things apple. I love spiced apple cider. It sounds like you worked hard to get all that done. I can almost smell it. Thank you for sharing. Doylene
