Outside my window…It’s cloudy and that’s a good thing. We really need the rain. My garden still looks beautiful, with late summer flowers blooming, but the flowers are very thirsty.
I am thinking…about getting ready for school to start.
I am thankful for…the safe return of Doug and Alyssa from their camping trip.
From the learning rooms…headed back to the classroom today to clean up from last year and get everything ready for next Monday morning when school starts. It will be strange to only have Alyssa for a student. Brian has high school orientation next Monday.
From the kitchen…probably blueberry muffins and corn for dinner. It’s one of our favorite summer meals. We’ve had some very delicious corn this summer. We’re having it as often as possible before the end of the season.
I am creating…a good start to the school year.
I am wearing…well, it is still summer, so I’m not dressed yet. I’m wearing my flowered nightgown and a powder blue robe.
I am reading…lecture packets from a writing class I missed this spring. I’m learning lots, even though I’m on overload right now.
I am hoping…that I can get my book proposal done this week. My critique partners made some good suggestions on my synopsis, so now I need to work to incorporate their suggestions.
I am praying…for my (much older) cousin’s granddaughter. She’s been fighting leukemia and it looks like it might be back.
Around the house…beds to be made, breakfast dishes to be cleaned up, a classroom to be readied for school.
I am hearing…the radio, Alyssa asking what there is for breakfast, Jonalyn asking Alyssa what she’s doing.
One of my favorite things…finishing everything on my to-do list. I love the sense of accomplishment.
A few plans for the rest of the week: getting ready for school, getting ready for Jonalyn’s birthday on Saturday. We’re going to have chicken adobo, jasmine rice, corn on the cob (O.K., that’s not Filipino, but so good) and I’m going to make her a cat cake. Can’t believe she’s going to be 7 already!
Here is picture thought I am sharing…a contemplative Alyssa in the firelight.
