I missed last week, but I am going to try to keep up with thankful Thursday. This week I’m thankful for the wonderful therapists Jonalyn had this summer. I’m so grateful the Lord put us in proximity (notice I did not say close proximity) to a wonderful institution. Jonalyn loves to go to there and doesn’t want to leave. And she has made some progress this summer. She has learned to rip the toilet paper off the roll and pump the hand sanitizer bottle. Sounds stupid, but those are huge steps for her toward independence. Her hands are stronger and that will help with other fine motor skills down the road. I’ve already mentioned speech. She hasn’t picked up too much in the way of new vocabulary (choo-choo, keys, nap) but seems to be getting better at expressing herself. There is less incomprehensible babble and more real words. So, while at times I wished I didn’t have to give up every Wednesday, I am so thankful we had the opportunity and provision for such good therapy for Jonalyn this summer.
