Friday morning, Mom, Doug and I decided to go into town and see if we could do some more shopping. We didn’t find much, but Doug did spot a curio in an antique shop that would be perfect for the doll collection Alyssa got from her great-grandmother. He’s hoping to get back up there in a couple of weeks and pick it up. Absolutely no room in the car or boat on the way home for it.
After lunch we headed out for a game of mini-golf. Even my parents played. We had a great time. Jonalyn got a big plastic club and ball to hit and she had a great time. On the first green, we told her she had to get the ball into the hole. She picked up her ball and placed it in the cup. Nothing to this game, Mom! By the 18th hole, she was getting the hang of it and hit the ball. Then it was over to the go carts. I never thought about Jonalyn wanting to go for a ride in the cars. I stayed out with her like I did with Alyssa when she was little. Well, Jonalyn had a fit when it was time to leave and she hadn’t gotten her ride in the car. Oops. Next time. Alyssa, my Arctic swimmer, took another quick dip in the lake before we headed out for a good old fashioned Wisconsin Friday fish fry. It came complete with cole slaw, tuna salad, potato salad, rye bread, and potato pancakes with applesauce. Yummy. My parents had poor man’s lobster and said it was some of the best fish they ever had. No wonder the place is so popular. We got there on the dot of [5:00] and waited 40 minutes for a table. But it was worth it. Back to the cabin to pack and watch “House Hunters” for the last time. My guilty pleasure this week. We don’t get HGTV here, but I love that show. Everyone graciously put up with me wanting to watch it every night. Come to think of it, it’s a good thing we don’t get that station at home!
As we were getting ready to leave on Saturday, Doug mentioned to the owner that the toilet kept running. Meanwhile, my parents got the resort’s extra pillows from a storage room and noticed they were wet. Back to the owner. Nope, it wasn’t the toilet or the water heater, but probably a pipe in the walls. He had a plumber coming as we were leaving. Hope he got it fixed. Glad we had hot water all week!
And now we are home. It was a wonderful vacation. I hope my parents had a good time and enjoyed their 50th wedding anniversary gift. Now, back to the grind. Ugh. I didn’t like the alarm going off at [6:55] this morning for church. And only 3 weeks to go until school starts again. I’ll sign off with some pictures from golfing and some pictures of our cabin.
