FOR TODAY July 6, 2009
Outside my window…Blue skies. Really comfortable temperatures. Lots blooming in my perennial gardens. It’s a perfect summer day.
I am thinking…about how I should really stop playing around on the computer and get some work done.
I am thankful for…healthy, albeit noisy, children.
From the learning rooms…nothing this week. I’m thinking about ordering books for next year, but I won’t get that done this week.
From the kitchen…something quick and easy. We had grilled pork chops on the 4th and boy, were they good. I got the loin chops, thin cut and they cooked up perfectly – done but not overdone, not an easy trick with pork chops. I’m going to be doing plenty of cooking to get ready for my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary party this weekend. Just the immediate family, but we’re getting bigger, so cookies, potato salad, muffins, jello, salads, etc. are all on the menu.
I am creating…a memorable weekend for my parents.
I am wearing… navy blue shorts and a sleeveless white shirt.
I am reading…a book on mothering right now. Sort of makes me feel rather like an incompetent slacker. I’m skimming.
I am hoping…that my sister and her family make it here on Friday in time for our BBQ. There’s so much construction between her house and ours, plus that lovely city of Chicago š
I am praying…for safe travels for my family this weekend, including Alyssa, who is going back with my sister to attend their VBS. This is the longest she will be away from me and I have to admit to being nervous about it!
Around the house…chores are getting done. At least, they’re supposed to be getting done.
I am hearing…Brian and Alyssa fooling around upstairs instead of doing their chores. Brian’s radio is on, again. How can you even hear it when you’re supposed to be vacuuming?
One of my favorite things…perfect, lazy summer days.
A few plans for the rest of the week: getting ready for the anniversary party, which includes cooking, cleaning, shopping and decorating. I have a surprise or two up my sleeve!
Here is picture thought I am sharing… a flower blooming in one of my pots.

Was it a great day? Again, I just love reading these, but I have not been able to get one going for me. š

And I thought my week was full.
I know you are going to have a lovely time at this party.
They are so much work, but so worth it looking back.
I hope Alyssa has a great time at VBS and your house will be much quieter.
Brian and Alyssa are my husbands cousins names (brother and sister).
Have a blessed and joyful week:)
