Outside my window…Well, we’ve skipped spring and jumped right into summer. After torrential rains this weekend, it’s going to be hot and humid. Yuck. But my garden is beautiful. The peonies are blooming. My roses are about to start. My hanging baskets and pots are beginning to look nice.
I am thinking…about watering all the grass seed I planted over the weekend. It’s going to take me all day because there’s so much of it. We had some trees moved last fall and the truck left deep ruts in our lawn. What a job.
I am thankful for…Tylenol. I would be able to function today without it. I’m soooo sore from raking the dirt so I could plant the seed. We bought topsoil, but they delivered clay. It’s like raking your driveway!
From the learning rooms…Alyssa has been learning to bake and has been doing a wonderful job. Snicker doodles and banana bread last week. I can’t wait to see what she makes this week.
From the kitchen…shrimp salad with homemade bread sticks. It’s too hot to cook.
I am creating…a clean house. I hope!
I am wearing… something different for a change – a cami-style nightgown and a lightweight robe. I haven’t gotten dressed yet. The joys of summer vacation!
I am going…to get some good work done around the house this week.
I am reading…I read “Sisterchicks Go Brit” over the weekend (mostly when I was too sore to do anything else!). What a fun book. My dream – to go to England but skip London. Just rent a car (Doug will drive), tour the countryside, stopping to visit lots of English gardens and spend the nights in quaint B & B’s with a cup of English breakfast tea in the morning. Doesn’t that sound like heaven?
I am hoping…that the pain in my hands and wrists subsides soon so that I can get some work done today.
I am praying…for a safe camp experience for Brian, that he has a good week with his friends and that this will lead to a deeper relationship to God for him.
Around the house…everyone is slowly starting their days.
I am hearing…Jonalyn wondering where Alyssa went. Brian’s radio upstairs.
One of my favorite things…newly mown lawn. The yard looks so nice and neat when it’s first done.
A few plans for the rest of the week: Brian leaves for church camp this afternoon. I have some errands to run. Jonalyn has therapy on Wednesday, and we are meeting some friends at a local lake on Thursday. I think I’ll see if their girl who is Alyssa’s age can sleep over on Wednesday night. Alyssa needs someone to play with. (Right now she is doing “therapy” with Jonalyn!)
Here is picture thought I am sharing… my kids and my nieces at the zoo.

Hey–stupid question. Do you have to be a SAHM or homeschool mom to do the Simple Woman’s Daybook?
Liz Tolsma says
Not a stupid question at all. And the answer is, no. The only requirements are that you post that picture at the top of your post and include a link back to the Simple Woman’s Daybook website.

In that case, maybe I’ll give it a try! I love reading yours and Debbie’s entries every Monday.
