Outside my window…They say that it’s a simply gorgeous day without a cloud in the sky and temperatures in the upper 70’s. I wouldn’t know. The power cord for our laptop bit the dust. I’m forced to work in the basement, staring at a concrete block wall. And it’s COLD down here.
I am thinking…about doing my editing by hand today and not on the computer. At least then I can sit on the porch. I’m also trying to figure out just when our new cord will arrive.
I am thankful for…Alyssa, who took wonderful care of Jonalyn this morning so I could get to work.
From the learning rooms…Brian is finishing up math in the next couple of weeks. He is enrolled and set for high school come fall.
From the kitchen…probably left over ham from yesterday. I don’t know if I’ll make hot ham sandwiches or ham and eggs. Still TBD.
I am creating…a beautiful flower garden. We spent the weekend working in the yard (hence my lack of blog posts). We bought annuals for our hanging baskets and pots. I’m getting better at doing pots, not following the “rules” and getting some great results. Our peonies are blooming and so is my Miss Kim Dwarf Korean lilac. My yard smells beautiful. Things are taking off.
I am wearing… A short sleeved shirt! Still in long pants and wrapped in a blanket, but when I get upstairs, I’m going to put on a pair of tan shorts. Whoopie!
I am going…to host Jonalyn’s first ever play date today with a little boy from her special ed class. He’s autistic, so I’m glad his mom is going to stay. It will be interesting to see how this goes!
I am reading…I read four books while we were on vacation. My favs? Until We Reach Home by Lynn Austin. She does such a wonderful job creating interesting and believable characters. I think that’s why she’s one of my favorite authors. I highly, highly recommend it. It tells the story of three sisters making their way from Sweden to the U.S. in the 1800’s. But it’s more than a physical journey. Each must find their own way back to God. Only when they do that can they find true and lasting happiness in their new home. I’ll save my reviews of the others for coming weeks.
I am hoping…that I manage to get a lot of editing, yard work, house work and work work done this week.
I am praying…for a strong and loving relationship with my Lord.
Around the house…it is busy, busy, busy. Alyssa is making snicker doodles for Jonalyn’s play date, and Brian is starting his day with a couple of pages in math.
I am hearing…Everyone walking around upstairs, including the dog. Jonalyn just said, “Ow”, which means Brian probably did something she didn’t like.
One of my favorite things…drowsy summer afternoons. Wish I had more time to enjoy them!
A few plans for the rest of the week: Jonalyn starts both speech and occupational therapy this week. I’m so glad I was able to get both of them at the same place on the same day, which will save us so much running around. It’s a good 30-40 minute drive for us to therapy, but it’s worth it. I’m hoping this intensive one-on-one therapy will be good for her. I’m getting a haircut on Thursday and on Friday I think we might go to this new Asian market near my office and out for pizza for dinner.
Here is picture thought I am sharing… with my laptop out of commission, I can’t download any pictures off of my camera. I’ll have more D*sney pictures, hopefully tomorrow, so come back then and see those. I’ll share pictures from our trip to the zoo with my nieces and of my garden in coming weeks.

I hope you have a wonderful week. I am feeling quite lazy! I need to snap out of it.
