Last night was Kylie’s first dog training class, sans dogs. It took me a while to find the place – it was very dark and foggy last night. We introduced ourselves and told about our dogs. Kylie is the oldest in the class. There is a 12 week old Golden, a 12 week old Wiemaraner, a 5 month old Golden Noodle, and an 8 month old Rottweiler. That last one makes me nervous. We’ll see how Kylie does next week when she goes for the first time. She can be very aggressive with other dogs, though she’s a sweetheart with us.

We’re working on a couple of exercises already, including getting the dog to come to you for a treat. Right now, they are supposed to follow you to get the treat. Kylie sits very politely and wags her tail, but doesn’t follow me. The cat, however, does 🙂 I don’t know – I think we may be in trouble here! The other exercise is for getting your dog to look at you when you call her name. Kylie has that one down pat. All in all, it should be a very interesting seven weeks.
