FOR TODAY February 16, 2009
Outside my window…when I went out at [7:00] this morning with the dog, it was just 6 degrees. Each blade of prairie grass in our meadow, the bare branches of all the trees, each bough of our pines trees was covered with thick frost, sparkling as if a child flung white glitter over everything. It was beautiful.
I am thinking…about which changes I need to make in my book before I submit it to the publisher.

I am thankful for…Doug’s job which appears to be very secure for now. In fact, this stimulus money might make him very busy!

From the learning rooms…Brian is upstairs at his desk doing math. Alyssa is doing her spelling pretest (I’m typing this in between words).

From the kitchen…good question! Maybe saucy meatballs.

I am wearing…my usual with a red plaid blanket thrown over my shoulders. It’s cold in our basement classroom.

I am creating…still working on the afghan. I also need to make a scrapbook page to finish the book I gave my mom for her birthday this past summer. It has two pages for each grandchild and I left a page blank to put in pictures from her party. She’d like it done.

I am going…to take the dog for a long walk this afternoon. The weather is supposed to get nasty tomorrow, so I might not have a chance again for a few days. I’m also going to scrapbook tonight to work on my page and I think Alyssa will come with me. She makes a book for Doug for Father’s Day each year and she’s excited to get started on it.

I am reading… Brian’s work for school – studying up on history (Civil War) and science (Newton’s three laws of motion).

I am hearing…Jonalyn playing in her kitchen, pretending to pour something into a cup. Now she’s calling for the cat (poor cat!). Alyssa’s pencil is scratching on the paper as she corrects the words she got wrong on her pretest.

Around the house…it’s nice and clean. My parents were over yesterday, so I worked hard on Saturday and got a good cleaning done.

One of my favorite things…having a clean house. I only wish it would stay that way longer!

A few plans for the rest of the week: we have homeschool co-op, I have lots of editing to do, papers to grade, and I need to get ready for our little getaway next week. Brian needs a new swimsuit before we go. Plus I have a baby shower on Saturday. A busy, busy week!
